JV Football Clips the Wings of the Ugly Eagles, 20-14

The scariest thing on this All Hallow’s Eve was the JV Don’s defense. While the score board illuminated 14 points for the visiting Ugly Eagles, one of those was a defensive score and the other had some very favorable calls from the officials.

The defense line was a force. The dream team: Graham Welton (55), Logan Houston (99), Matei Bolata (62), Joe Wilson (45), Grady Branagh (67) and Will Siamas (88) gave the CVS offense no breathing room. Joe Wilson (45) had his game of the season with two sacks, and many near sacks. His final sack of the game secured the win for the Dons. Grady Branagh (67) also “introduced” himself to the CVS QB twice. Graham Welton (55) stuffed their lanes, and was a constant presence. Will Siamas (88) was also key to shutting down the pass game.

The linebackers cleaned up anything that snuck through the impressive defensive line. The linebacking trio of Dax Vail (33), Joaquin Bordi (26) and Owen Blanchard (12) combined for 15 tackles.

The “boys in the back” put on a show. Brennan Visnick (23) had a number of impressive tackles. And what’s better than one interception? Two. Mason Andersen (19) and Dylan Icay (18) both came away, with takeaways.

QB Colton Whalen-Schlosser (9) had a great night at the helm. He logged four carries and connected with his favorite target on the night, Max Volpian (7), six times, including a TD toss late in the fourth quarter. On that same drive Whalen-Schlosser (9), connected with Dylan Icay (18), with heavy coverage, Icay (18) skillfully came away with the catch, setting up the score.

The running back trio of Joaquin Bordi (26), Dax Vail (33) and Trey Roberts (11) saw a lot of action. Roberts (11) ran for a two point conversion. Vail (33) had four carriers, one for 20 yards. Bordi (26) had a big night. Five carries. One for 20 yards, another for 30, resulting in two touchdowns. Nice work #26, but don’t forget to thank your offensive line.
